Rebranding rollout

Each site was completely different but the brand needed to be recognisable across every location. Proportion and colour was paramount. We had extremely strict brand guidelines from the marketing agency. We needed approval from both the agency and the client before proceeding to manufacture stage. Colour swatches for vinyl, acrylic and paint needed signoff.

Manufacturing Methods and Techniques:

We used various manufacturing substrates and techniques specific to each location. Laser cut acrylic of various thicknesses and 2pak painting to ensure longevity. Folded aluminium pans on some facsias, edge-wrapped ACM carpark signs (100’s of them).
Inside, braille and tactile signs were requested for the new hospital wing. We commissioned a braille manufacturer to produce a stainless steel base with a matte black enamel coating, raised text (tactile) and braille.

Installation Complexity and Scale:

Every fascia was different, every window tint, reception desk, nothing was consistent. That was our biggest challenge – making the locations look the same.

It also boiled down to one important consideration - The Patient Journey. Often patients are highly stressed when visiting a medical facility. Wayfinding signage must not add to their stress. Installing in medical facilities also raised concerns over patient welfare and disruption. Often our teams had to wait outside a room until patient had exited, we quickly and quietly installed regulation and wayfinding signage, cleaned up and then moved to next room. In all of the Radiology sites, the team were accompanied by a representative from Mercy (now Allevia) to limit patient disruption. Hospital carpark signage had to be done after visiting hours due to high traffic demands. No loud work was to be started before 7am as patients could not be disrupted. We worked closely with hospital facilities team submitting SWMS, JMS and TMP documents before proceeding.

Project and Rollout Management

We worked closely with the hospitals Brand Transformation Lead and their Ad Agency. We had clear budgets for each site and submitted up-to-date costings as we progressed. Often it would be “back to the drawing board” if we noticed an overspend once we saw design concept.
Every Monday from 2 – 2.30pm for 8 months our project team lead was required to report on progress at an online meeting. No meeting was ever missed. We were to answer questions from ad agency, facilities team, brand transformation lead and any number of clinical team members.
Our site installs were scheduled according to client priority.

Results:
Feedback from both Allevia staff, stakeholders and their patients has been extremely positive.
