The Drain Company Truck

Our client, an owner/operator with passion levels set to “maximum”, knew exactly what they wanted… and also exactly what they didn’t want. It was their first foray into the wild world of signwriting, and thanks to a less-than-stellar previous experience, they arrived equal parts excited and understandably cautious. Cue a lot of conversations, careful guidance, and many design revisions. But hey, we were in it together, and we weren’t stopping until they were 100% stoked.
Overall Visual Impact & Clarity:
They came to us with a brand and a clear directive: turn it up. They wanted colour—big, bold, impossible-to-ignore colour. The kind that practically shouts at you in traffic. Their call-to-action? Crystal clear: if your drains are blocked, don’t think—CALL THESE GUYS NOW. Subtlety was not invited to this party.
And the truck? Oh, the truck. A brand new, state-of-the-art vacuum truck that absolutely had to be the best-branded rig on the road. Blending in was not an option. This thing needed to scream, “Yes, we fix your problems and we look good doing it.”
Creativity of Design:
At the time, both our designers were completely slammed. So we called in our trusty freelance wizard to whip up an initial concept while we fought our way out of the workload jungle. And credit where it’s due, he nailed it.
Tiny hiccup though: once the client locked in their new truck… it turned out to be nothing like the one we’d designed for. Different shape, different layout, basically a whole new puzzle.
No stress. We brought the design back in-house, rolled up our sleeves, and got stuck into reshaping, resizing, and reworking everything to fit like a glove.
Complexity:
This one had all the bells. All the whistles. On top of the visual elements, we had to incorporate and carefully work around mandatory compliance signage, because when you’re dealing with hazardous waste, missing a sign isn’t just a whoopsie… it’s a “there-goes-several-thousand-dollars” situation.
So yes, it was complex. It was challenging. It tested our patience and creativity. But in the end? Well we delivered a head-turning, bold-as-hell, fully compliant masterpiece that the client could proudly drive down the road, and that nobody else could possibly ignore.
